ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration reported three new dengue cases in the past 24 hours, while over 26,000 locations across the city were inspected in a single day as part of preventive measures.

According to officials, one case was from the rural zone and two from urban areas. District teams carried out fogging at 309 identified points in sensitive locations, while anti-dengue staff monitored residential areas, open spaces, commercial sites, and public facilities. Hospitals currently have nine dengue patients under treatment, all of whom are reported stable.

During surveillance, 36 positive larva points were identified in open areas and immediately cleared, with follow-up monitoring scheduled. Targeted spraying was conducted at 67 residential houses where potential breeding signs were detected, while commercial hotspots reported zero cases, indicating the effectiveness of regulatory checks in high-footfall business zones.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon emphasized that the decline in dengue cases reflects the success of coordinated surveillance, fogging, and preventive operations. He directed staff to maintain strict oversight of all activities and warned of prompt action against negligence.

Authorities urged residents to continue preventive measures, such as removing standing water, covering storage containers, and maintaining cleanliness around homes. The ICT administration will continue daily operations until new cases are completely halted, with district teams deployed across rural and urban zones to curb mosquito breeding as seasonal changes persist.
