Russia backs Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine

Published on: November 22, 2025 12:41 PM

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed support for the U.S.-proposed peace plan to end the war in Ukraine. He confirmed the plan includes many of Russia’s key demands, including recognition of certain territories under Russian control.

Putin warned that if Ukraine rejects the agreement, Russia could seize additional territories. He cited the recent capture of the Ukrainian city of Kakhovka as an example and suggested similar moves could occur in other strategically important areas, signaling a potential escalation.

The Russian leader also said some clauses in the U.S. document remain open for negotiation. He sent a message to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying the 28-point Trump plan could form the basis of a final peace deal and help bring long-term stability.

Putin emphasized that the plan reflects international backing for Russia’s position while still allowing dialogue on unsettled issues. He encouraged Kyiv to consider the proposal seriously to avoid further losses.
