Earlier this month, the national security establishment underwent a major restructuring through an amendment to Article 243 of the Constitution, alongside changes in legislations governing the Army, Air Force, and Navy. The amendment also abolished the office of CJCSC, a tri-service post designed to maintain institutional balance and coordination within the armed forces.

The dissolution of the CJCSC office, effective November 27, will formally end nearly five decades of joint-service representation in decision-making, including during wartime, marking the close of a historic chapter in Pakistan’s military structure.
