
Railways authorities conducted a large-scale crackdown on ticketless travel, recovering more than Rs1 million from 1,201 passengers during surprise inspections on multiple trains and railway stations across the country.
The enforcement drive also collected fines exceeding Rs180,000, targeting travellers found without valid tickets on major trains including Tezgam, Ghauri Express, Badar Express, Karachi Express, Jaffar Express, and Karakoram.

DCO Railways Anam Ali reviewed hygiene and passenger facilities during the inspections, focusing on washrooms, seating arrangements, and general cleanliness to ensure acceptable service standards on board and at stations.
Additionally, the quality of food served in dining cars was examined to ensure compliance with safety and hygiene regulations, protecting passengers from substandard or unhygienic meals during their journeys.

Surprise visits were conducted at major stations, including Lahore, where authorities expressed concern over poor cleanliness at platforms and vendor stalls. Penalties were imposed and unauthorised products were confiscated to improve standards.
Commercial Inspector Faisal Nazir and other railway officials accompanied the DCO throughout the operation, highlighting a coordinated effort to enforce ticket regulations and improve overall railway services for passengers.
