Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Wednesday praised the “professionalism, resolve and commitment” displayed by Pakistan’s armed forces during Marka-i-Haq, saying it had “enhanced” the country’s global stature. His remarks came during an address to the participants of the National Security Workshop–27, who visited the General Headquarters (GHQ), according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The Pakistan Army had designated the recent period of conflict with India — beginning with the April 22 Pahalgam attack and concluding with Operation Bunyanum Marsoos on May 10 — as Marka-i-Haq. The COAS noted that the response of the armed forces during this time demonstrated Pakistan’s capability and reinforced its position in the international arena.
Field Marshal Munir emphasised that Pakistan was a “country of consequence” with the potential to achieve its rightful standing among nations. He underscored that national unity remained the country’s greatest strength, adding that the nation would collectively defeat the “nefarious designs” of its adversaries.

According to the ISPR, the army chief also drew attention to the “fluid regional environment”, shaped by intense geopolitical competition, cross-border terrorism and hybrid threats. Despite these challenges — including externally backed militancy and information warfare — Pakistan’s armed forces, intelligence agencies and law enforcement institutions continued to uphold their commitment to national security, he said.
Reaffirming the military’s stance, the COAS stressed that Pakistan’s territorial integrity and protection of its citizens were “paramount” and would not be compromised under any circumstances. He also reiterated support for federal and provincial governments, noting that coordinated national efforts were essential for long-term stability.

The workshop participants were briefed on ongoing campaigns against smuggling, narcotics trafficking and organised crime, alongside updates on improved border management and the repatriation of illegal foreigners. These efforts, the ISPR said, were aimed at safeguarding national interests and internal order.
