Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said the body, which was in the early stages of decomposition and had disfigured facial features, showed strong signs of sexual violence. Authorities are investigating the case as a brutal act of murder and sexual assault.

The victim has been identified as Shahnaz Arshad Gill, a 49-year-old woman from Saeedabad, Baldia Town, originally from Mian Channu in Khanewal district, Punjab. Her husband had passed away in 2019. South DIG Syed Asad Raza confirmed that her son identified the body after filing a missing person report.

According to her son, Shahnaz had left her home on the evening of Saturday, November 22, saying she was going to a bazaar, but she never returned. The family stated they had no known disputes or enmity with anyone, making the incident even more alarming for the local community.

Police have begun investigations to trace the perpetrators and are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to arrests. Officers are also examining CCTV footage and conducting forensic tests as part of the probe.
