‘Stranger Things’ faces timeline blunders again

Published on: December 2, 2025 5:46 PM

Fans of Stranger Things have spotted new continuity errors in the first volume of the show’s fifth and final season, raising questions about the series’ timeline consistency ahead of its finale.

In episode 4, Sorcerer, viewers noticed a mismatch in Will Byers’ childhood memory. Will flashes back to a sunny day building Castle Byers, which conflicts with Jonathan’s description of the same event in season 2’s The Mindflayer.

Jonathan previously recalled that the construction took all night, it rained, and they got sick but continued working, creating a clear contrast with the bright, calm day shown in the latest flashback sequence.

Another discrepancy appears in episode 6, The Turnbow Trap, where Joyce says Will was 11 when he entered the Upside Down, despite earlier missing posters stating he was 12, echoing a season 4 oversight regarding his birthday.

The show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, had previously acknowledged a similar mistake and joked about a potential “George Lucas” style fix, though no corrections have been made yet for season 5.

Volume 2 of the final season is set to release on December 25, leaving fans eager for answers while hoping for fewer timeline inconsistencies in the concluding episodes.
