Dharmendra’s ancestral property passes to cousins, not sons

Published on: December 3, 2025 4:18 PM

Following the death of Bollywood legend Dharmendra, his ancestral property in Ludhiana, including a farmhouse and surrounding land valued at nearly ₹5 crore, has been transferred to his uncle’s grandsons. This means his sons Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and other family members no longer hold any legal claim to the estate.

Reports indicate that Dharmendra had made arrangements years ago to gift the property to his cousins’ children, who had maintained and cultivated the land during his absence in Mumbai. Relatives from the village emphasized that the property held deep sentimental value for the actor.

Recognizing the decades of care and loyalty shown by his cousins, Dharmendra chose to formally hand over the estate to them, ensuring the land remained in responsible hands. Despite no longer being part of the Deol brothers’ inheritance, Dharmendra’s legacy in Indian cinema remains unparalleled.

Fans will have the chance to see him one last time on the big screen in his upcoming film Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan and starring alongside Agastya Nanda. The movie is set to release on December 25, exactly one month after the veteran actor’s passing, serving as a heartfelt tribute to his illustrious career.

The transfer of the ancestral property underscores Dharmendra’s enduring values of family loyalty and respect for those who nurtured his roots, even as his cinematic legacy continues to inspire generations of fans.

While his sons will not inherit the Ludhiana estate, the actor’s contribution to Bollywood and his memorable on-screen presence will forever remain a part of India’s cultural heritage.
