The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecasted light rain and snowfall in hilly areas of Punjab, aiming to reduce smog levels in major cities, officials said on Friday.

PDMA Director-General Irfan Ali Kathia warned that Lahore, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Layyah, Kot Addu, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Khanpur will experience dense fog and smog.

He added that Murree, Galiyat, and other hilly regions are likely to receive snowfall, while light rain in urban areas may help improve air quality and visibility for residents.

The DG advised people to wear masks and limit outdoor activities to reduce exposure to smog, emphasizing that PDMA is closely monitoring weather conditions across the province around the clock.

Drivers were urged to use fog lights while travelling and maintain caution on the roads. For assistance or guidance, citizens can contact PDMA helpline 1129 for immediate support.

Irfan Ali Kathia reassured the public that PDMA teams are ready to respond to emergencies and ensure safety during the adverse weather, urging everyone to follow official advisories to avoid accidents or health risks.
