China, Russia conduct joint anti-missile drills

Published on: December 7, 2025 1:21 PM

China and Russia recently held their third joint anti-missile military drills on Russian territory in early December, the Chinese defence ministry confirmed. Officials said the exercises were routine and not aimed at any third party.

Moreover, the ministry stated that the training was not linked to current international tensions. It added that the drills focused on improving operational coordination and enhancing strategic cooperation between both armed forces.

The latest exercise followed formal talks last month on missile defence and strategic stability between the two countries. Earlier in August, they also carried out artillery and anti-submarine drills in the Sea of Japan, demonstrating expanding military coordination.

Both nations signed a “no-limits” strategic partnership shortly before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The pact included commitments to conduct regular joint exercises and strengthen defence planning through shared military training.

Additionally, China and Russia have raised concerns over US President Donald Trump’s plans to develop a “golden dome” global missile shield. They also criticized Washington’s intention to resume nuclear weapons testing after more than three decades of suspension.
