Karachi protest against dumpers and tankers

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) announced a protest in Karachi today over rising deaths from dumper and water tanker accidents.

JI Karachi chief Munam Zafar Khan told the media that these heavy vehicles have become a serious threat to citizens’ lives. He said daily travel has turned dangerous, with families mourning lost loved ones repeatedly.

He criticized authorities for failing to ensure public safety, highlighting that reckless driving of dumpers and tankers shows no sign of stopping. He also condemned misuse of the e-challan system, calling it “loot and plunder.”

Munam Zafar Khan announced a sit-in at Numaish Chowrangi at 5:00 pm today. The protest targets both deadly tanker operations and unfair e-challan practices.

The JI leader emphasized Karachi’s worsening infrastructure, noting that nearly half the city suffers severe water shortages. He said this has empowered the tanker mafia.

He demanded an immediate end to “blood-soaked tankers” and called on authorities to provide clean water through pipelines for residents.

Munam Zafar Khan reaffirmed JI’s support for affected families and vowed to continue fighting for citizens’ safety, life, and property.
