Bangladesh is among the largest contributors to UN peacekeeping missions, with troops deployed in volatile regions such as Abyei. The Bangladesh Armed Forces reported that the drone strike was carried out by separatist armed groups on the Kadugli Logistics Base between 3:40 pm and 3:50 pm local time on Saturday.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also condemned the attack, offering condolences to the victims’ families and wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded. He emphasized that attacks on UN peacekeepers are unjustifiable and may constitute war crimes, reminding all parties of their obligation to protect UN personnel and civilians.
