CTD jurisdiction expanded under Punjab’s Safe Punjab initiative

Published on: December 17, 2025 5:57 PM

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Punjab has seen its jurisdiction expanded as part of Chief Minister Punjab’s “Safe Punjab” vision. The provincial cabinet approved the extension to enhance security and counter-terrorism efforts across additional areas.

Tehsil Koh-e-Suleman in Dera Ghazi Khan has been brought under CTD oversight. Additionally, Rajanpur tehsil, previously excluded, is now under the jurisdiction of CTD Dera Ghazi Khan.

With this expansion, the CTD Dera Ghazi Khan office will cover all districts of the Dera Ghazi Khan Police Region, including Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, and Rajanpur. The move is aimed at strengthening law enforcement presence and improving coordination in the region.

The latest decision amends a previous notification issued on September 27, 2019. Recommendations from the Home Department were reviewed and subsequently approved by the provincial cabinet.

A formal notification has now been issued to implement the changes officially. Authorities say the expansion will enable more effective operations against terrorism, organized crime, and other threats in southern Punjab.

Officials emphasized that the move aligns with the broader “Safe Punjab” strategy, focusing on proactive security measures and enhanced policing in vulnerable areas.
