Trump claims historic Gaza peace, hails US economic boom

Published on: December 18, 2025 3:55 PM

US President Donald Trump addressed the nation from the White House, highlighting his achievements and criticizing his Democratic predecessors. He used the 19-minute speech to promote a narrative that the country is on the right track, despite declining approval ratings. Trump claimed that America is strong, respected, and nearing unprecedented economic prosperity.

In his speech, Trump asserted that he ended eight wars in ten months, neutralized the Iranian nuclear threat, and brought peace to Gaza, calling it the first in 3,000 years. He also emphasized his mandate to end corruption and halt illegal immigration in the United States.

Trump criticized policies from the Biden administration, claiming they allowed illegal immigrants to take jobs while his administration ensured new employment opportunities went to American citizens. He touted $1.8 trillion in investments, promising new jobs and factory establishments, crediting his tariff policies for economic growth.

The president declared that the US economy had transformed from stagnant to the “hottest” in the world, asserting that his measures restored American strength and global standing. He highlighted his administration’s focus on national security, economic growth, and job creation.

Trump delivered the address a day before the Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report on inflation. While annual inflation had dropped to a four-year low of 2.3% in April, it has been gradually rising since, challenging his economic claims.
