Israeli leaders have reportedly communicated their worries to Washington, cautioning that recent Iranian missile exercises may serve as a cover for offensive action rather than routine manoeuvres.

This alarm comes as intelligence assessments note an uptick in Iran’s missile capabilities since the June 2025 conflict, when ballistic missiles were fired towards Israeli cities including Tel Aviv.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to discuss these developments with US President Donald Trump in upcoming meetings, emphasising the need for coordinated action if Iran’s military posture continues to escalate.

Earlier reports also suggested Netanyahu might ask the US to consider potential military options if Iran’s missile and nuclear programs expand beyond acceptable limits.

The situation follows months of tensions stemming from a previous flare-up in mid-2025, when Iran launched ballistic missiles and drones toward Israeli targets after Israel struck Iranian nuclear and military facilities in a major escalation.

That conflict brought renewed focus on the region’s volatility and underscored how rapidly hostilities could resume if diplomatic or strategic pressures shift.

Israeli defence officials have been candid about the seriousness of the threat, warning that miscalculations or misinterpretations of military movements could spark unintended confrontations.

With both Israel and the US watching closely, any significant shift in Iranian force deployment or rhetoric is likely to shape regional security policy in the coming weeks.
