Lahore schools fully closed during winter break

Published on: December 23, 2025 5:54 PM

The Lahore School Education Department has imposed a complete ban on all private schools operating during the winter vacation period, prohibiting both academic and co-curricular activities to ensure compliance with official orders. Moreover, authorities warned that violations could lead to license cancellation and heavy fines.

Winter vacations for public and private schools across Punjab will run from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026, with regular classes set to resume immediately after the break on January 10. Additionally, colleges and universities will remain closed from December 23, 2025, to January 10, 2026, except for certain BS four-year degree programmes.

The Higher Education Department clarified that academic activities for BS four-year programmes will continue despite the winter break, and all examinations will follow previously scheduled timetables without changes, ensuring minimal disruption for students appearing in assessments.

Officials noted that seasonal weather conditions, including fog and low temperatures, influenced the decision to halt academic activities across Punjab, allowing students and staff to travel safely. Consequently, authorities urged strict adherence to directives to maintain uniformity in the winter academic calendar.
