World reacts strongly to US Venezuela strike

The United States launched a large-scale military strike on Venezuela, capturing President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. Explosions rocked Caracas as black smoke and aircraft were seen across the capital. Global leaders condemned the attack, calling it a violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Iran condemned the strike as a “flagrant violation of national sovereignty.” Cuba called it a “criminal attack” and labeled it “state terrorism.”

Russia described the action as an “act of armed aggression” and urged dialogue to prevent escalation. Spain offered to mediate for a peaceful solution, emphasizing de-escalation and respect for international law.

Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro warned against unilateral military actions that could endanger civilians and destabilize the region. He stressed protecting border populations and coordinating humanitarian support. Germany, Italy, and Belgium said they were closely monitoring the situation.

Italy highlighted that about 160,000 Italians live in Venezuela and mobilized crisis units to assist them.

The US strike followed months of military and economic pressure on Venezuela and its oil-dependent economy. Venezuelan Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino vowed to resist foreign troops. Authorities and international observers are concerned the strike could further inflame tensions in the region. Leaders emphasized diplomacy, dialogue, and humanitarian measures as the immediate priority.
