According to police, the accused, who lived close to a local cloth trader, had abducted the child and moved him to Charsadda. Acting on intelligence, the police conducted a targeted raid on the suspect’s hideout, apprehending him and recovering a motorcycle, mobile phone, and a weapon from his possession.

The arrest comes amid growing concerns over child safety and increasing incidents of ransom demands in the city. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and are investigating whether the suspect acted alone or had accomplices.

Separately, Karachi police reported two major gold thefts in Mohammad Ali Society and Bahadurabad, involving over 115 tola of gold jewellery, valued at more than Rs60 million. The alleged suspects, identified as two housemaids, Nadia and Dilshad, reportedly carried out the thefts within days of being hired. CCTV footage shows them fleeing the scenes, and investigations indicate they are habitual offenders.

In the Mohammad Ali Society case, more than 100 tola of gold was stolen while 15 tola went missing from a house in Bahadurabad. Police have launched a search operation to arrest the suspects and recover the stolen items.
