
Ishaq Dar said Israel’s recognition of Somaliland and its foreign minister’s visit amounted to a direct attack on Somalia’s internationally recognised borders, while addressing an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah.
He stressed that Pakistan fully respects Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, therefore condemning Israel’s move as illegal and unrealistic, adding that international law does not allow any state to alter recognised borders.

Moreover, Dar warned that Israel’s action threatens peace and stability across the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, as Pakistan joined the OIC in rejecting the move through a unified joint statement.
He further noted that such steps could weaken global counterterrorism efforts, while Pakistan has already raised the issue at the United Nations, calling the recognition a violation of international law and the UN Charter.

Meanwhile, OIC members including Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Palestine, and Somalia reaffirmed support for Somalia’s unity, whereas Dar reiterated Pakistan’s backing for Palestinian self-determination and urgent humanitarian access to Gaza.
