Ukraine drone strike hits Rostov-on-Don industrial site

Published on: January 14, 2026 4:15 PM

A Ukrainian drone attack overnight sparked two fires at an industrial facility in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, officials said. Four people, including a four-year-old child, were injured when debris damaged apartment buildings. All victims were hospitalized, regional governor Yuri Slyusar said.

Slyusar added that one fire was extinguished by early Wednesday, while the other was contained. He did not identify the industrial facility affected. Temporary housing was arranged for families whose apartments were damaged, said Rostov mayor Aleksandr Skryabin.

The full-scale impact of the strike remains unclear, and Ukraine has not commented on the incident. Ukrainian authorities have previously targeted Russian infrastructure, citing retaliation for Moscow’s attacks on Ukrainian cities during the nearly four-year war.

Rostov-on-Don is a key transport and logistics hub near Ukraine, hosting military headquarters and supply routes. Its strategic location makes it a prime target for Ukrainian drone strikes against Russian rear-area operations.

The attack highlights the growing use of drones in the conflict, aimed at weakening Russian military and energy infrastructure. Authorities continue assessing damage and supporting affected residents in the city.
