QUETTA: The Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) has exempted a significant portion of the provincial capital from power outages, declaring 75 out of 139 feeders in Quetta city as loadshedding-free under its latest improvement measures for Balochistan’s electricity network.

According to officials, all feeders connected to the 132kV Quetta City Grid Station and the 132kV Mari Abad Grid Station have now been put on a no-loadshedding schedule. The move aims to ease consumer hardship and ensure uninterrupted power supply in densely populated zones.
However, not all areas are set for round-the-clock electricity. Loadshedding of four to six hours daily is still being implemented across the remaining 64 feeders in various neighbourhoods of the city. Officials said these feeders fall under categories with higher distribution losses or technical limitations, resulting in staggered outages throughout the day.
In the Makran region, Qesco reported that 34 out of 70 feeders have also been exempted from scheduled outages. The remaining 36 feeders are currently receiving between 16 and 18 hours of electricity per day, signalling partial relief for consumers in coastal districts.
Qesco officials maintain that the reforms are part of broader efforts to stabilise power distribution, manage losses and address longstanding public grievances regarding irregular supply. The utility has not issued a timeline for when the remaining feeders may achieve loadshedding-free status, but stated that further improvements are tied to grid upgrades and recovery performance.
