Sindh announces Rs10m for Gul Plaza victims

The Sindh government has announced Rs10 million compensation for families of those killed in the Gul Plaza tragedy. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired an emergency meeting. He vowed complete rehabilitation for victims and affected traders.

The meeting included senior ministers, the mayor, and key officials. The chief minister said compensation payments would begin from tomorrow. He called the incident deeply painful and tragic.

Moreover, Murad Ali Shah said the fire destroyed livelihoods and left many families unemployed. He stressed that restoring businesses remains a top priority. He added that PPP leadership is closely monitoring relief efforts.

Officials said Gul Plaza housed nearly 1,200 shops before the fire. As a result, around 1,200 traders were affected. Meanwhile, firefighters and rescue teams continue search operations from multiple access points.

So far, authorities have confirmed 14 deaths and 73 missing persons. The chief minister ordered immediate debris removal and a forensic investigation. A special committee will supervise compensation, relief, and rehabilitation work.
