Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism from Pakistan, highlighting the armed forces’ role in safeguarding the nation. Speaking at a national workshop in Islamabad, he stressed that national security remains a top priority and that Pakistan is prepared to face internal and external threats with unity and resilience.
The PM recognised Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as a strategically significant province, acknowledging the sacrifices of its people and security forces in the war on terror. He also praised the province for hosting around four million Afghan refugees during the Afghan war, demonstrating Pakistan’s humanitarian commitment.

Shehbaz highlighted Pakistan’s efforts toward macroeconomic stability and noted plans to boost growth in agriculture, trade, exports, and Information Technology. He also referenced the National Finance Commission Award, recalling Punjab’s 2010 decision to contribute one percent of its share to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in recognition of the province’s sacrifices.
Addressing external security, the prime minister recalled Pakistan’s response to unprovoked Indian aggression last year, noting that seven Indian aircraft were shot down in self-defence. He credited the military, led by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for sending a strong deterrent message to the enemy.

PM Shehbaz also condemned malicious social media campaigns targeting the armed forces, often backed by foreign interests. He reaffirmed his government’s dedication to counter propaganda, protect the military’s image, and ensure the safety and well-being of all Pakistani citizens.
