KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to reconstruct the fire-hit Gul Plaza in Karachi. The project will be funded through the provincial budget. Authorities aim to complete the new multi-storey building within one year.

Officials said the decision was taken to support affected traders and restore commercial activity quickly. Therefore, the government will oversee construction and ensure modern safety standards. Experts in architecture and construction have already been engaged for the project.

Moreover, authorities confirmed that shops will be handed back to original allottees after completion. This step aims to protect traders’ rights and livelihoods. The government said transparency and proper planning will guide the reconstruction process.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government has arranged temporary business spaces for affected shopkeepers. Officials selected three locations to help traders continue earning during construction. This measure is meant to reduce financial losses and business disruption.
