The hosts head into the match with a 1-0 lead after a convincing performance in the series opener, where they successfully defended a total of 168 for 8. Pakistan restricted Australia to 146 for 8, securing a 22-run victory and gaining early momentum in the contest.

Saim Ayub was the standout performer in the first T20I, scoring a brisk 40 at the top of the order before contributing with the ball by picking up two wickets. Pakistan’s spinners played a key role in controlling Australia’s chase, while sharp fielding and multiple run-outs further tilted the match in the hosts’ favour.

Ahead of the second fixture, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that right-arm fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr has been released from the squad for the remainder of the series. The board did not disclose the reason for his release.

The second T20I also adds another chapter to the closely contested rivalry between the two sides in the shortest format. Pakistan and Australia have now faced each other 29 times in T20 Internationals, with Australia holding a slight edge, having won 14 matches compared to Pakistan’s 13. One match ended in a tie, while another produced no result.

With the series finely poised, Pakistan will be aiming to capitalise on home conditions and secure the series, while Australia look to bounce back and level the contest.
