Pakistan elect to bat in third T20 against Australia

Published on: February 1, 2026 4:46 PM

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first in the third T20 against Australia, aiming to build a strong total and maintain their commanding lead in the series.

Captain Salman Agha announced three changes to the squad, bringing in Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Nafi, and Shaheen Afridi, while dropping Sahibzada Farhan, Usman Khan, and Usman Tariq from the final XI for strategic reasons.

Highlighting the team’s strengths, Agha said Pakistan has five world-class spinners and the pitch tends to slow after the first ten overs, giving the spinners an advantage in controlling the middle overs.

The captain emphasized that the team’s primary objective during the powerplay is to score as many runs as possible, setting a solid foundation to challenge Australia and secure another series win.

Pakistan enters the third T20 already leading the three-match series 2-0, positioning them to claim an unassailable lead and gain confidence ahead of future international fixtures and tournaments.

With key players returning and tactical adjustments made, Pakistan hopes to capitalize on Australia’s weaknesses, showcasing their batting depth and spin options to dominate the match and clinch the series.
