NA speaker summons Business Advisory Committee meeting

Published on: February 2, 2026 2:23 AM

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has summoned a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee on Monday at 4:00 pm in Parliament House to finalise the agenda for the current session.

The meeting, to be held under the chairmanship of the Speaker, will deliberate on the strategy for the 24th session of the National Assembly. Parliamentary leaders and chief whips of parties represented in the House are expected to attend. The Federal Minister for Law and the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs will also participate in the proceedings.

Earlier, it was reported that President Asif Ali Zardari had summoned separate sessions of both houses of parliament today (February 2), which are likely take up an amendment related to the National Accountability Ordinance to allow the incumbent NAB chief to remain in office beyond his term set to expire in the first week of March, said sources.

The agenda of these sessions has not been shared but insiders said the NAB amendment would be the sessions’ highlight to pave the way for the incumbent NAB chairman to remain at the helm until the appointment of his successor. Retired Lt Gen Nazir Ahmad became the NAB chairman on March 4, 2023, for three years after his predecessor Aftab Sultan resigned citing “interference” and “pressure” as the reasons for his departure.
