Why Timothée Chalamet missed Grammys night

Published on: February 2, 2026 4:03 PM

Timothée Chalamet surprised fans by skipping the 2026 Grammy Awards, even though he received his first-ever nomination in the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media category. The actor earned recognition for his work on the soundtrack of the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, marking a major milestone in his career.

However, Chalamet did not attend the ceremony in Los Angeles, and his absence quickly caught public attention, especially as he has remained highly active throughout the current awards season. While the Grammy went to the team behind Sinners, many expected Chalamet to appear and celebrate his debut nomination in person.

Instead, the 30-year-old actor was in London, where he attended the London Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards and won the Actor of the Year honour. Earlier, he also took part in a public discussion with filmmaker Richard Curtis, where he spoke about his recent projects and creative journey.

Meanwhile, Chalamet continues to build an impressive awards record for his performance as Marty Mauser in Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie. The role of an ambitious table tennis athlete has earned him widespread praise and multiple industry awards.

So far, he has already secured a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award, while nominations at the BAFTAs, SAG Awards, and the Oscars are still pending. As a result, his absence from the Grammys appears less like a snub and more like a scheduling conflict in an increasingly busy career.

Ultimately, Chalamet’s growing presence across global award platforms highlights his rising influence beyond acting alone. Even without attending the Grammys, his first nomination signals a new chapter in his professional achievements and expanding artistic recognition.
