Kazakhstan’s Tokayev begins historic Pakistan visit

Islamabad: Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for his first state visit. He was warmly received at Nur Khan Airbase by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The visit marks a key moment in strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

Tokayev is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including senior cabinet ministers and top officials. During the visit, he will hold meetings with Pakistani leaders and address the Pakistan–Kazakhstan Business Forum to discuss trade and investment opportunities.

The Foreign Office said the visit offers a “timely opportunity” to review bilateral relations. Discussions will focus on trade, regional connectivity, logistics, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides aim to explore new avenues for cooperation in multiple sectors.

Officials highlighted that the visit reflects historic and cultural ties between the two nations. They emphasized the commitment to transform these affinities into practical cooperation, especially in economic, diplomatic, and regional initiatives.

The visit underscores both countries’ dedication to peace, progress, and deeper collaboration. Leaders are expected to strengthen ties and explore joint work in regional and international forums.
