Jacob Elordi, the 28-year-old actor starring as Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation, suffered second-degree burns during filming, temporarily requiring hospitalization after a shower accident.

Elordi recounted the incident in an interview with Esquire UK, explaining that while scrubbing his feet in a steam shower, he accidentally leaned back, causing his back to sear against the steam knob.

The actor’s injury followed intense filming days on the Yorkshire moors, where Elordi was rolling in dirt to prepare for his role, demonstrating his commitment to embodying the iconic character authentically.

Emerald Fennell shared that she initially feared a car accident when she received news of Elordi being rushed to the hospital, highlighting the shock and concern among the film’s production team.

Despite the painful incident, Elordi later joked about the accident, likening it to extreme method acting, and described feeling a “spiritual” connection upon arriving at the film’s scenic moorland locations.

Wuthering Heights, featuring Elordi as Heathcliff opposite Margot Robbie’s Catherine, is scheduled for theatrical release on February 13, with audiences eager to see the much-anticipated romantic drama hit the big screen.
