Minister Bilal reviews kite-flying material prices

Published on: February 5, 2026 2:16 AM

Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin on Wednesday chaired an important meeting at the Home Department to review the increase in prices of kite-flying material ahead of Basant, on the directives of chief minister Punjab. Secretary Home Punjab Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi briefed the meeting on arrangements for Safe Basant. Special Secretary Home Zainab Khan, Additional Secretary Internal Security, Additional Secretary Prison and other officials were present. The minister said that the CM had taken notice of the price hike in kite-flying material and issued instructions for addressing public complaints. He said the administrations of Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Multan had been directed to ensure maximum availability of kite-flying material in Lahore. Bilal Yasin said that the kite-flying material available in the four districts would reach Lahore within one day and the availability of ample supplies would result in a clear reduction in prices. He added that all possible steps were being taken to make Basant a Safe Basant, and the chief minister had given the people a safe celebration to bring back public festivities. The minister said that the Punjab government had ensured Basant arrangements within a short time. He added that after Lahore, permission had been granted for manufacturing kite-flying material in Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Multan, from where all required material would be transported to Lahore within a day. The meeting was informed that registered manufacturers in the four cities would sell kites and string only to Lahore-registered traders or sellers. The minister directed all stakeholders to play their full role in ensuring Safe Basant in Lahore on February 6, 7 and 8.
