Pakistan refuses India clash, reaction emerges

Published on: February 6, 2026 4:00 PM

Pakistan will not face India in the ICC T20 World Cup. The decision follows directives from the Government of Pakistan. The high-profile match was scheduled for February 15.

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav addressed the issue during a captains’ media briefing in Mumbai. He clarified that India never refused to play Pakistan. Instead, he said the decision came solely from Pakistan’s side.

However, Yadav confirmed India will still travel to Colombo as planned. He said the ICC finalized the schedule with consultations from the BCCI and government. Therefore, the team will proceed and await further developments.

Moreover, Yadav stated the team’s preparation remains unchanged. India will play its first match on February 7. Then it will face Namibia on February 12 before leaving for Colombo.

Finally, Yadav stressed the situation is beyond the players’ control. He said India will play on February 15 if instructed. Previously, political tensions also disrupted India-Pakistan ties during the Asia Cup.
