Islamabad attack planned in Afghanistan: Naqvi

Published on: February 7, 2026 10:30 PM

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the entire planning of the Islamabad suicide attack took place in Afghanistan. He said the mastermind linked to Daesh Afghanistan has been arrested. Authorities have also detained all individuals connected to the attack.

Speaking to media in Islamabad, Naqvi said India is funding terrorism inside Pakistan. He claimed India has increased its terrorism budget after recent setbacks. He warned that other countries would eventually raise their voices against India.

Naqvi said four facilitators were arrested from Nowshera and Peshawar with help from KP’s Counter Terrorism Department. He added that the attacker was trained in Afghanistan. Evidence shows how the bomber was brought into Pakistan.

The minister said security forces conducted raids during the investigation. One KP police officer was martyred and several others were injured. He stressed that the attack was planned by Daesh in Afghanistan and executed with external support.
