Iran warns US bases face retaliation

Published on: February 7, 2026 11:30 PM

Iran warned on Saturday that it would strike US military bases in the Middle East if Washington launches an attack. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said any response would target US forces only. He stressed Iran would not attack countries hosting American bases.

Araqchi made the remarks during an interview with Qatar’s Al Jazeera television. His comments came after Iran and the United States agreed to continue indirect nuclear talks. The latest discussions were held in Oman and were described as positive by both sides.

Although no date has been fixed, Araqchi said both sides want talks to resume soon. US President Donald Trump said negotiations could begin early next week. However, Trump has warned Iran against uranium enrichment, missile development, and regional military support.

Iran rejected widening the scope of negotiations beyond nuclear issues. Araqchi said dialogue requires an end to threats and pressure. He insisted Tehran will only discuss its nuclear program with Washington. Iran continues to deny seeking nuclear weapons.

Araqchi recalled last year’s US strike on Iranian nuclear sites during an Israeli campaign. Iran later responded with missiles fired at a US base in Qatar. He said a future attack would trigger a similar response, targeting American bases across the region.
