The Federal Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, who also heads Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), has said the country and its parliament cannot function without support of his party.
Addressing a surgical camp for cleft lip children at Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) here on Saturday the MQM-P’s Convener said they did not get elected to the assemblies with the support of the foreign powers but only with the public’s support.
He recalled that they started their political movement in 1978 to get recognition for the people who had migrated from India after the partition.
Siddiqui said the party had given precedence to service to humanity without any racial or linguistic discrimination over politics.
He maintained that 135 children who underwent free surgery at the camp did not belong to any specific ethnic group. Siddiqui contended that a specific class of elite had been ruling the country for decades.
The Federal Minister claimed that the promises made for starting the development projects in Hyderabad were being fulfilled.
He observed that Pakistan ranked 4th in the list of countries where children were born with cleft lips.
Siddiqui acknowledged the services of KKF’s hospital, located adjacent to the Railway Station Hyderabad. The foundation’s head Dr Tahir Khanzada also expressed his views on the occasion.
The party’s MNAs, MPAs and local leaders were also present.
