Wasim Akram praises Punjab Government for safe Basant 2026

Published on: February 8, 2026 4:55 AM

Former Pakistan cricket captain and fast bowler Wasim Akram shared a video message on social media regarding the Basant Festival in Lahore, thanking the Punjab Government for ensuring safe and well-organized arrangements.

In his message, Akram said he had seen pictures of Lahore on social media and the city looked truly beautiful. He recalled the excitement of Basant from his childhood days, even though he later became part of the Pakistan cricket team. He added that he could understand how visitors coming from Lahore and other cities must be feeling during the festival.

Akram congratulated the Punjab Government for successfully holding such a grand event with excellent security measures. He also urged citizens to follow government instructions and avoid any unsafe or unnecessary activities.

He stressed that people should enjoy the occasion responsibly so that Basant can continue to be celebrated every year in the same spirit.

Akram also expressed his wish to visit Lahore and celebrate Basant himself, but said he was leaving for Sri Lanka due to World Cup commitments. He concluded by sharing good wishes for the public and encouraging everyone to enjoy the festival fully.
