The Mummy 4 (2025) - First Trailer - Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz

LOS ANGELES – Universal Pictures has officially announced a release date for the highly anticipated The Mummy sequel, reuniting franchise favorites Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, sending fans into a frenzy. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 19, 2028.

Fraser returns to the series for the first time in two decades, following Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. Weisz, who skipped that installment, reprises her role as Evelyn O’Connell for the first time since The Mummy Returns in 2001. The beloved duo will once again portray adventurers Rick and Evelyn O’Connell, bringing nostalgia to longtime fans of the franchise.

The untitled sequel is set to be directed by Matt Bettinelli Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for their work on Scream V, Scream VI, and Ready or Not. David Coggeshall, writer of Orphan: First Kill, is penning the script. Fraser has described the project as the version of the story he has “wanted to make for decades.” “The one I wanted to make is forthcoming. I’ve been waiting 20 years for this call. Now? It’s time to give the fans what they want,” Fraser told the Associated Press.

Since its 1932 origins, The Mummy franchise has expanded into multiple sequels, spinoffs, and reboots, including the 2017 Tom Cruise-led film. Fans hope this new installment will recapture the excitement and chemistry of the original films, blending action, adventure, and supernatural thrills.
