Colombo weather threatens Pakistan-India clash

Published on: February 14, 2026 6:10 PM

Pakistan and India are set to clash in a high-stakes T20 World Cup Group A match in Colombo tomorrow. Fans and teams are concerned as unpredictable weather could disrupt play. The match affects both teams’ standings and millions of cricket supporters across South Asia.

The Sri Lankan Department of Meteorology has warned of a low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal, increasing rain chances. Temperatures during the day are expected to reach 30–31°C with humid conditions, while scattered thunderstorms may occur. Rain probabilities are estimated between 50 and 70 percent, potentially affecting the toss and reducing overs.

The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm local time, but heavy showers before the game could cause delays. Some forecasts suggest a short improvement in weather after 8:00 pm, though intermittent rain may persist through the night. Organizers are monitoring conditions closely to minimize disruptions.

Officials have confirmed that if the match is abandoned due to rain, both Pakistan and India will be awarded one point each. Teams are preparing for all scenarios, including a shortened or interrupted game. Cricket fans are hoping the weather will allow full play in this high-intensity encounter.
