Turkiye’s Fidan to join Trump’s Board of Peace

Published on: February 18, 2026 5:31 PM

ANKARA: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend the inaugural meeting of U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” in Washington on Thursday. Fidan represents President Tayyip Erdogan and will emphasize urgent measures to address the Palestinian issue. The talks aim to foster stability in Gaza and advance a two-state solution.

A Turkish diplomatic source said Fidan will call for Israel to end actions that block humanitarian aid to Gaza and ceasefire violations. He will also reiterate Turkiye’s commitment to supporting Gaza’s reconstruction and protecting Palestinian security. These efforts reflect Ankara’s longstanding role in Middle East diplomacy.

Fidan is expected to demand urgent international action against Israel’s “illegal settlement activities” and settler violence in the West Bank. He will stress the need for coordinated steps to prevent further escalation and ensure humanitarian access in the region. Turkiye aims to use the platform to influence policy and mobilize support for peace.

President Erdogan told reporters that he hopes the Board of Peace will bring lasting stability, a ceasefire, and eventually peace to Gaza. He added that the initiative should help advance a two-state solution, long sought by the international community. Erdogan’s message underscores Turkiye’s alignment with diplomatic solutions for regional conflict.

The Board of Peace includes global stakeholders, with the EU participating as an observer rather than a full member. Fidan’s participation highlights Turkiye’s proactive diplomatic approach and its intention to shape international responses to the Gaza crisis.
