Israel school strike kills 51 students in Iran

Published on: February 28, 2026 9:45 PM

A missile strike hit a girls’ school in southern Iran, killing 51 students and wounding 60, state TV reported. The attack occurred in Minab County, according to the local governor, and targeted an elementary school early Saturday.

The United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran, aiming at its leadership. President Donald Trump said the strikes were designed to remove a security threat and offer Iranians a chance to challenge their rulers.

Nearby Gulf Arab countries, many of which are major oil producers, grew concerned as the strikes raised fears of broader regional escalation. The attacks significantly increased tensions across the Middle East, with governments on high alert.

Tehran responded by launching missile attacks toward Israel, signaling that the conflict could escalate further. Iranian officials described the retaliation as defensive, aimed at American and Israeli military targets. Analysts warn that prolonged strikes could destabilize the region.

The tragic toll from the Minab school strike underscores the human cost of escalating military confrontations. Humanitarian groups have called for immediate ceasefires and protection of civilians in conflict zones. Diplomatic efforts are urgently needed to prevent further civilian casualties.
