Iran launches massive missile barrage against US bases and Israel

Published on: March 5, 2026 1:15 PM

Iran launched a fresh wave of attacks on United States and Israeli targets, firing more than 40 missiles while also destroying 10 drones during the latest escalation of the ongoing conflict. Iranian military officials said the strikes targeted several strategic locations, including American bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, in direct response to recent US-Israeli bombardments inside Iran.

Meanwhile, tensions rose further when the Israeli military confirmed that multiple rounds of Iranian missiles were launched toward Israel early Thursday, triggering air-raid sirens across several regions. Explosions were heard in Jerusalem shortly after the alerts, though emergency services reported no immediate casualties and authorities later allowed residents to leave shelters after the threat subsided.

At the same time, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a separate drone strike targeting a military base south of Tel Aviv. The group said its drone specifically aimed at an Israeli Iron Dome radar system, while Israel also conducted airstrikes in Beirut earlier Wednesday that killed three people and injured six others.

Furthermore, the widening conflict has severely disrupted regional air travel, with more than 20,000 flights cancelled across eight countries in the past five days. Pakistan’s flights to several Middle Eastern destinations have also faced major disruptions, with at least 145 flights cancelled as airlines continue adjusting schedules due to security risks.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia reported intercepting three cruise missiles approaching near Al-Kharj city, stating that its defense systems successfully shot them down before they could reach populated areas. Officials confirmed that no casualties were reported, highlighting the rapid response of Saudi air defense units during the incident.

However, the humanitarian toll continues to grow rapidly as rights groups report heavy civilian casualties from the ongoing bombardments. More than 1,000 civilians, including 181 children under ten years old, have reportedly died since the attacks began, while thousands more remain injured and hundreds of additional deaths are still under verification.
