PMD forecasts mainly dry weather across Pakistan next 24 hours

Published on: March 5, 2026 2:28 PM

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted mainly dry weather across most parts of the country over the next 24 hours, while cold and partly cloudy conditions are likely to persist in hilly regions. Authorities warned that isolated light rain or thunderstorms accompanied by light snowfall may occur over high mountains in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain above normal in plain areas, providing warm conditions for residents. In Islamabad, partly cloudy to dry weather is forecasted for the federal capital and adjoining areas, with chances of gusty winds during the afternoon hours. Authorities advised citizens to take precautions during periods of strong winds.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, mainly dry weather will prevail across most districts, while upper areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Bajaur may experience partly cloudy skies and cold conditions. Isolated light rain and thunderstorms along with snowfall are possible over higher mountainous regions, adding a seasonal chill to the area.

Punjab is likely to witness dry conditions in most districts, accompanied by hot daytime temperatures, especially in plain areas. Gusty winds may also occur in these regions during the afternoon, while upper and central districts including Murree and Galiyat are expected to experience partly cloudy weather with colder mornings and nights.

Hot and dry weather is expected across Sindh, while Balochistan will experience mainly dry conditions with colder temperatures in northern districts during mornings and nights. Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan may witness partly cloudy skies with occasional light rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall over higher mountains.

PMD emphasised that while most areas will remain dry, citizens in hilly and mountainous regions should remain alert for sudden weather changes. Authorities advised monitoring local forecasts regularly and taking necessary precautions in areas prone to snow or thunderstorms.
