Shehbaz Sharif departed for Saudi Arabia on Thursday for an emergency official visit. The trip follows rising tensions in the Middle East after recent attacks in the region. The visit highlights Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to support regional peace and security.
According to Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hassan Andrabi, the prime minister is visiting on the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is accompanying the premier during the visit. Officials described the trip as an important step in ongoing bilateral consultations.

During the visit, the prime minister will discuss regional tensions and security developments with the Saudi leadership. The talks will also focus on strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Officials said the discussions aim to promote peace and stability in the region.

The Foreign Office added that Pakistan continues to support diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions. Islamabad is encouraging de-escalation, a ceasefire, and dialogue to resolve ongoing conflicts. Authorities believe diplomatic engagement remains essential to prevent further regional instability.

Earlier, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir visited Saudi Arabia and met Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman. They reviewed security challenges following Iranian drone and missile attacks on the kingdom. Officials also discussed joint defence measures under a strategic agreement signed last year.
