President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the passing of renowned actor and voice artist Shujaat Hashmi, paying tribute to his remarkable contributions to Pakistan’s cultural and entertainment landscape.

The president described Hashmi as one of the prominent artists of the golden era of Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television, acknowledging his enduring legacy in radio, television, theatre and film, a condolence message issued from the Presidency said.

President Zardari particularly highlighted Hashmi’s memorable performance in the iconic drama serial Waris, saying his timeless acting in the classic production would always be remembered by audiences.

He noted that the late artist played an important role in promoting Pakistan’s national cultural heritage through his work across multiple artistic platforms, leaving a lasting impact on the country’s entertainment industry.

“The artistic services of Shujaat Hashmi will always remain alive in history,” the president said, adding that the nation had lost a talented and dedicated performer.
