ISLAMABAD — Authorities have rejected reports circulating on social media claiming that the airspace over Pakistan’s federal capital has been closed, describing the claims as baseless and misleading.
An official spokesperson for Islamabad International Airport said flight operations at the airport remain fully operational, with all arrivals and departures continuing according to schedule.

The spokesperson clarified that no restrictions or suspensions had been imposed on air traffic in or around Islamabad. He emphasised that airport activities remained uninterrupted throughout the day despite rumours spreading online about an alleged closure of the capital’s airspace.
“All arrivals and departures are proceeding normally. Any claims about the closure of Islamabad’s airspace are false and should be disregarded,” the spokesperson said.
Officials noted that misinformation circulating on social media had created unnecessary concern among travellers and the public. Authorities urged passengers to rely only on verified updates issued by aviation authorities or airlines rather than unconfirmed posts online.
Passengers were also advised to contact their respective airlines directly to obtain accurate and up-to-date information regarding flight schedules.
The spokesperson added that the spread of misleading information can cause confusion and anxiety, particularly for travellers planning domestic or international journeys. He stressed that official sources remain the most reliable way to confirm flight-related updates.

Aviation authorities reiterated that both airport operations and the country’s airspace over the capital remain stable and secure. They assured the public that there has been no disruption to routine aviation services.
Officials further stated that the overall situation at Islamabad International Airport is completely normal, with operations continuing smoothly and business proceeding as usual.
Authorities again appealed to the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to depend only on official announcements regarding aviation matters.
