LAHORE — Lahore police have arrested two women involved in pickpocketing at Achhra Bazaar, targeting shoppers preparing for Eid festivities. The suspects, identified as Saima and Neelum, were apprehended after authorities received reports of repeated thefts in the busy market area.

According to a police spokesperson, the duo would exploit the heavy crowds during the Eid shopping rush to steal wallets, purses, and other valuables from unsuspecting shoppers. “Saima and Neelum were taking advantage of the market’s congestion to commit thefts,” the spokesperson said.

During a search, police recovered multiple stolen wallets, purses, and other personal belongings from the suspects’ possession. The authorities have confirmed that the recovered items have been returned to their rightful owners.

The spokesperson further stated that the suspects are being questioned to determine the full extent of their criminal network and any previous offenses. Both women have been formally charged, and further investigations are underway to ensure no accomplices are involved.

Local residents and shoppers expressed relief over the swift action taken by the police, highlighting concerns about safety in crowded markets, especially during festive periods. Police officials have urged citizens to remain vigilant while shopping and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Saima and Neelum are currently in police custody and will face legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
