Hyderabad Kingsmen name Marnus Labuschagne captain for PSL season eleven

Published on: March 17, 2026 5:33 PM

The newly formed Hyderabad Kingsmen has appointed Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne as captain ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Super League season eleven. The franchise, preparing for its debut campaign, announced the decision through an animated video shared on its official social media platforms.

Team officials said the appointment reflects the management’s confidence in Labuschagne’s leadership skills and international experience. The Australian cricketer has established himself as a reliable performer in international cricket and is expected to guide the new franchise during its first appearance in the league.

However, the announcement quickly sparked debate among cricket fans, with some supporters criticizing the decision to appoint a foreign captain instead of a local Pakistani player. Many fans expressed their views online, arguing that domestic players should receive more leadership opportunities in Pakistan’s premier T20 competition.

Despite the criticism, Labuschagne joins a growing list of Australian players leading teams in the tournament. Karachi Kings will be captained by David Warner, while Multan Sultans have appointed Steve Smith as their captain for the same season.

League analysts believe the presence of internationally recognized captains could increase the tournament’s global appeal. High-profile overseas players often attract broader audiences and strengthen the competitive profile of the league across international cricket markets.

As Hyderabad Kingsmen prepare for their debut season, the team management hopes Labuschagne’s leadership will help build a strong identity for the franchise. Supporters and critics alike will now watch closely to see how the new captain performs in the highly competitive tournament.
