Punjab accelerates digital governance with 252 services on e-biz portal

Published on: March 18, 2026 3:26 PM

The government of Punjab has significantly expanded its digital governance framework by placing 252 public services from 18 departments on the e-Biz Portal under the Digital Punjab initiative. This move aims to simplify access to essential services, reduce physical visits to offices, and enhance overall efficiency. By shifting processes online, the administration is actively working to create a more transparent and citizen-friendly system that meets modern governance standards.

Moreover, officials have outlined plans to add 48 additional services to the portal by April 15, further strengthening the platform’s reach and usability. This expansion reflects the government’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in public service delivery. As more services become available online, citizens and businesses alike are expected to benefit from faster processing times and reduced bureaucratic hurdles, making everyday interactions with government departments more seamless.

In addition, a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary Punjab carefully reviewed the portal’s performance and progress, highlighting key achievements and identifying areas for further development. During the session, officials revealed that the portal has received 44,519 applications so far, demonstrating growing public trust in the system. Impressively, 40,854 of these applications have already been approved, showcasing the efficiency of the digital process.

Furthermore, authorities informed participants that all services under the “Maryam Ki Dastak” program have now been successfully integrated into the e-Biz Portal. As a result, No Objection Certificates and various permits will now be issued digitally with QR codes, ensuring authenticity and reducing the chances of fraud. This integration marks a major step toward consolidating multiple public services into a single, accessible platform for citizens across the province.

Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of fully digitizing government services and gradually phasing out manual systems. He directed all departments to accelerate their digital transformation efforts to improve service delivery and operational transparency. This directive underlines the administration’s broader vision of adopting technology-driven governance practices that align with global trends in public sector innovation.

The meeting brought together senior officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary and the Chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board, along with other key stakeholders. Divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners also participated via video link, ensuring coordinated efforts across the province. Collectively, these developments signal a strong push toward building a fully digital, efficient, and responsive governance system in Punjab.
