Tarar confirms Kasim, Sulaiman can visit Imran

Published on: March 18, 2026 11:02 PM

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has confirmed that the sons of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan do not require visas to visit Pakistan. The announcement follows an appeal by Imran’s ex-wife, Jemima Goldsmith, requesting that Kasim Khan and Sulaiman Khan be allowed to meet their father in prison.

Tarar said the children can enter Pakistan using their NICOP cards as Pakistani citizens without a visa. He emphasized that they must fully comply with Pakistani laws during their stay. He also confirmed that a phone call between Imran and his sons will be arranged on Eid, following previous procedures.

Jemima Goldsmith had stated that her sons applied for visas in January but had not received any response after 60 days. She cited prior assurances from Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and PM spokesperson Mosharraf Zaidi that her children could safely travel to Pakistan to see their father. She also highlighted that the boys have not spoken to or visited their father since November 2022, after he survived an assassination attempt.

Imran Khan’s phone call will be arranged on Eid Day with his children as done in the past as well.

Imran Khan has been imprisoned at Adiala Jail since August 2023, serving a sentence in a £190 million corruption case. He also faces pending trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) related to the May 9, 2023, protests. Kasim and Sulaiman had previously accused the government of deliberately delaying visa processing to prevent them from meeting their father, describing it as collective punishment.

The announcement brings clarity for the family amid heightened public attention. It also signals that Pakistan’s authorities are facilitating access for Imran’s children while emphasizing adherence to legal procedures. The arrangement for Eid communication is expected to provide temporary relief to the family.
