Israeli president warns of new Iranian missile

Published on: March 19, 2026 1:42 AM

Tel Aviv: Israeli President Isaac Herzog has called Iran’s new ballistic missile a “major challenge,” warning of its destructive potential. The missile, reportedly carrying 6 to 8 kilograms of explosives, is said to cause widespread death and devastation, heightening tensions in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. Iranian state media claimed that these weapons were used in attacks on Tel Aviv, affecting multiple districts and critical infrastructure.

According to Iranian television, the recent strikes damaged eight areas of Tel Aviv, causing power outages and forcing 4,000 residents to relocate to safer locations. The report also said the city’s train services were suspended indefinitely, and refueling planes at Ben Gurion Airport were targeted during the attacks.

President Herzog stated that the missile poses a significant threat to civilian populations and infrastructure, emphasizing the challenges Israel faces in countering these advanced Iranian weapons. He warned that the missile’s explosive capacity could lead to large-scale destruction if deployed against Israeli cities.

Iranian military officials asserted that their attacks have established a new regional balance of power without the involvement of the United States. The Iranian Ministry of Defense claimed that 600 U.S. troops have been killed since the conflict began, signaling the escalation of hostilities in the region.

The attacks have disrupted daily life in Israel’s capital, with transportation, power, and public safety services affected. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and implement emergency measures as tensions rise between the two countries, with international observers urging restraint.
